GHD is seeking an Entry Level Environmental Engineer to work with our Decontamination/Demolition and Environmental Emergency Response groups as a Decon/Demo professional based out of our Farmington Hills, MI, Chicago, IL or Columbus, OH office.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Inspections of large commercial and manufacturing facilities prior to decommissioning and/or demolition.
- Contractor oversight during the decommissioning of commercial and manufacturing facilities including asbestos abatement, PCB remediation, mercury remediation, and other hazardous materials removal/disposal.
- Contractor management during the demolition of commercial and manufacturing facilities with the responsibilities of supervising budgets, schedule, project scope, waste manifesting, and health/safety.
- Environmental data management, compilation, and analysis.
- Travel to project sites across North America – Up to 40% overnight travel.
- Perform a wide variety of field duties for both routine/scheduled and emergency environmental projects to include: inspection, maintenance, monitoring, construction oversight, air monitoring, operating UAVs, and operations and maintenance of remediation systems
- Prepare technical correspondence, project proposals, technical reports, work plans, and project specifications including cost estimates and budgets - Data compilation, reduction, interpretation, evaluation/comparison to environmental regulatory standards
What you will bring to the team:
- Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science (Engineering, Geology, or Science)
- 0-3 years’ experience
- Detail oriented with the ability to balance a diverse and changing workload
- Critical thinking and problem solving – ability to identify multiple solutions to a problem
- Willingness to potentially respond to call outs during non-routine working hours
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and positive attitude
- Establishing and maintaining harmonious working relationships with superiors, co-workers and clients – effective collaborators are welcome
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet project timelines
- Self-motivated and willingness to work in a team in a fast-paced environment
- Valid drivers license
- Ability to perform physically demanding work
- OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification is a plus
