Evening, weekend, distance education, television and or off-campus classes for UH Maui College and or Outreach sites (Lanai and Molokai) may be assigned as part of regular workload.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- This Lecturer is to provide instruction for SSM 275, Basic Energy Production. Topics covered in the course may include basic principles of physics relating to energy, the mechanics of conventional electrical power production, elements of an electricity grid, specific references and information regarding island grids and the Maui grid system, and current sources of electrical generation on Maui and other Hawaiian Islands.
- The Lecturer shall apply reasonable methods of assessing students’ understanding of materials and information consistent with the Student Learning Outcomes for the course, and the Program Learning Outcomes for the Sustainable Science Management program.
- Teach assigned courses in the discipline qualified for.
- Maintain minimum of one office hour per week for each course taught.
- Prepare course syllabi, grading and reports related to teaching and student progress
- Work under supervision of discipline coordinator/division chairperson in integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area.
- May include instructional assignments involving distance education.

Minimum Qualifications:As listed below. All minimum qualifications must be from an accredited institution and met by the effective date of appointment. If qualified applicants are not available, those not meeting the minimum qualifications may be considered on an exception basis.- Master’s Degree in Biological Science
OR- Master’s Degree in Physical Science
Desirable Qualifications:- 10 or more years management experience working with a community level power grid.
- Experience managing an island power grid.
- Experience managing an island power grid in Hawai’i.
- Experience working with third party providers who generate and sell their power product to an island power grid.
- Knowledge of and experience with trends in growth of renewable power generation in Hawai’i and on Maui.
- Experience teaching electrical power fundamentals to students in schools or in the workplace.
- Experience with battery and other storage facilities used in conjunction with intermittent power generation.
- Experience in working with combined power systems.
- Successful community college and or university teaching experience in the field
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to use writing assignments and integrate teaching of appropriate thinking skills in to course content as an integral part of student's classroom learning activities
