We are looking for a Global Operations Manager- Sustainability to join our team and work closely with implementation teams in each market to ensure the successful rollout and optimization of second-life device initiatives, providing guidance and support to align local efforts with M-KOPA’s strategic goals.
As the Global Operations Manager- Sustainability you will play a key role in integrating pre-owned smartphones into M-KOPA’s product offering across our five operating markets.
You will lead the design, implementation, and scaling of best practices for second-life device operations, including buy-back programs, trade-ins, and sales strategies. Your role will be instrumental in ensuring consistency, efficiency, and the success of these initiatives across markets.
Additionally, you will provide hands-on support for implementation, guiding the teams in each country on the necessary steps to achieve seamless execution and alignment with M-KOPA’s overall strategy.

In this role, you will focus on strategy, project management, and providing advisory support to local teams. Your goal will be to ensure a smooth integration of second-life device operations and alignment with M-KOPA’s broader objectives:
Coordinate Second Life Device Operations:
Develop strong relationships with the teams on the ground in each market that are responsible for execution of second life device operational activities
Oversee and coordinate second life device operational activities across M-KOPA's 5 operating markets, ensuring consistency and efficiency in operations
Lead the design of new pilot programs, and oversee their implementation and scale-up of successful initiatives
Establish project objectives, budgets, and timelines for these programs
Manage external partnerships related to these programs.
Drive Experimentation and Learning:
Design and implement innovative experiments to test and refine second life device operations
Analyze experiment results, draw insights, and create comprehensive reports to drive continuous improvement
Develop dynamic, evolving global playbooks for trade-in and buy-back programs, and for second life device sales, based on experimental learnings and market-specific insights
Facilitate knowledge sharing across all markets, encouraging a culture of experimentation, learning, and sharing of best practices
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
Develop and implement KPIs for second life device operations.
Monitor progress and evaluate performance of second life device sales in each market.
Regularly report on performance to senior management and stakeholders.
Market Research and Strategy:
Travel Requirements This role is based in one of M-KOPA’s operating markets, with a preference for Nairobi. Travel (up to 33%) will be required across M-KOPA’s markets to support implementation and coordination efforts.
Expertise
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:
Experience in operations management, preferably in the technology or telecommunications sector.
Experience in the refurbished or second-hand device market is a strong plus.
Proven track record of managing multi-market operations and leading strategic initiatives.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage complex projects across diverse markets.
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Bachelor's degree required.
