Job Description
Position Objective:
Site leader for all plant wide safety and environmental programs for all employees to provide a safe, injury free workplace that complies with and exceeds all safety and environmental regulations. Serve as the primary resource, communicator, trainer, and solutions provider for problems identified and engage all employees while serving as a conduit for information related to safety and environmental projects and employee concerns. Comply with all mandated reporting and work with employees in a proactive manner to reduce injuries.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Leads the planning, implementation and management of safety / environmental policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
- Leads the planning, implementation and management of programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, for example, but not limited to fire protection, lockout/tagout, fall protection and handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment and other materials.
- Leads all safety related activities for the facility, including safety related initiatives and plant safety committee.
- Inspect organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determine corrective or preventive measures where indicated and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented.
- Compile and submit accident and / or environmental reports required by Nidec Corporate and regulatory agencies.
- Maintain environmental, health and safety files and records in accordance with the corporate record retention guidelines.
- Ensure timely submittal, acquisition and maintenance of all environmental permits and reports to maintain compliance with state and federal requirements.
- Lead investigations of all work-related incidents/accidents, recommending corrective action to eliminate future similar incidents.
- Serve as the primary resource for managers and employees regarding safety and environmental issues.
- Report required OSHA information as well as the reporting that is required by company.
- Complete government-mandated reports related to safety and environmental issues.
- Administrative duties including filing, phone calls, tracking data
- Write, review or update safety policies and procedures.
Experience/Skills:
- 5-8 years applicable experience in Manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience generating regulatory reporting and experience interpreting and complying with OSHA regulations.
- Previous experience leading a safety team and training employees and plant management on proper safety and environmental work practices
- OSHA, CPR, First Aid and other training as required
- Due to Military requirements candidate must be a U.S. Citizen
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in safety and environmental preferred, or bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or industrial engineering.
