The Senior Environmental Scientist delivers discipline involvement in projects and ensures effective delivery input of others. Works on detailed or routine environmental assignments involving studies, assessments, drawings and reports etc. The role includes EIA/ESIA development, data review, supervision, coordination and acquiring baseline documentation. Guides junior Engineer/Environmental Scientist and independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete environmental works/ studies. Signs reports, documents and forms as registered Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP). Leads Public Participation/Stakeholder Engagement. Main interface with Clients and Competent Authorities.
Technical Excellence:
May be required to coordinate small - mid-size project teams of discipline-led Engineer/Environmental Scientist/ Environmental Managers.
Prepares project deliverables that are reviewed by senior team members.
Performs specific and large portions of a broader assignment as an experienced Engineer/Environmental Scientist/ Environmental Manager.
Provides specialised technical input into studies and assessments for the particular area of expertise and identifies discrepancies in results.
Follows existing or develops environmental assessment procedures to facilitate high-quality, cost-effective work by self and others.
Participates in and creates an interdisciplinary review of project deliverables, including modelling reviews and laboratory analysis—knowledge of construction environmental management procedures relating to their specific areas of study and impact assessments, as well as inputs from external specialist and specialist studies.
Gathers and correlates environmental information and data using well-defined methods. Prepares technical specifications and performs work under the agreed-upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
Applies legislative knowledge to project triggers and manage environmental risk. Technically coordinates with Authorities for approvals.
Solves problems encountered using knowledge, innovation and modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous works.
Contributes to the area of expertise, providing proposed improvements to existing processes and delivers solutions where precedent may not exist.
Performs technical quality reviews of environmental assessments, models and survey analysis, including documentation in project records by adhering to quality, occupational health and safety and corporate standards.
Maintains and develops the highest level of technical skills and abilities.
Uses pricing and manages budget/schedule for innovative environmental enhancements.
Client Relationship Management:
Begins to build and maintain client relationships.
Attends client meetings as technical support to gather information and discuss project requirements, explain/ defend work, etc.
Participates in the development and preparation of bids and proposals.
Able to present solutions to clients in a professional and technically competent manner.
