About the role
Reporting to the Assessments and Approvals Team Leader, you will be responsible for delivering a diverse range projects to JBS&G and our clients across various market sectors. You will also be actively participating in activities that contribute to the future development of the business and your own career.
Tasks and responsibilities
- Interpret legislation, government policy, standards and guidelines to deliver tailored approvals strategies and outcomes for major projects.
- Manage subconsultants, particularly ecological studies, with opportunities to participate in fieldwork
- Prepare ecological assessments, EPBC Act referrals and other approvals documents using desktop information and subconsultant reports
- Deliver high-quality approval applications and technical reports to support environmental and planning approval requirements.
- Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage and work in project teams, manage clients, projects and teams, ensuring that projects can be delivered on time, on budget and to a high standard.
- Interact and work with State and Commonwealth regulatory agencies.
- Develop relationships with clients and ensure high quality customer service throughout projects.
- A fun and positive outlook who enjoy collaborative working.
- Prepare proposals, ensuring accurate cost calculations and appropriate scoping.
- Collaborate on business development initiatives that contribute to company growth.
About you
- A minimum of 7 years or more experience in ecological assessment and approvals work in SA, with strong working knowledge of the EPBC Act, NPW Act, Native Vegetation Act, listed species, relevant policies and guidance.
- A background working in ecology, with tertiary qualifications in Ecology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or Natural Resource Management, with an understanding of earth sciences highly desirable.
- Accreditation as a Native Vegetation Council (SA) Accredited Consultant is preferable.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to write accurate reports and complex proposals.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain client relationships, as well as identify and pursue.
- Desire to build networks and pursue new business opportunities experience.
- Full drivers’ licence, and willingness to obtain a police and medical clearance.
