As an Intermediate Environmental Scientist/Technologist you will join our Calgary, AB office as part of our Assessment, Remediation, Reclamation and Monitoring (ARRM) team.
The successful applicant will be 40% office/60% field-based and involved in a broad range of projects with responsibilities as follows:
Active participation in maintaining Matrix’s strong safety culture
Lead simple to complex contaminated site field investigations projects
Act as a leader in the workplace using Matrix Standard Operating Safety and Technical Procedures
Initial interpretation of field data to make field-related decisions
Work with senior technical advisors to ensure high quality products that meet our clients’ unique project needs
Understand and adhere to project related timelines and budgets
Preparation of technical correspondence, proposals, work plans, cost estimates, and reports
Assist with data entry, pre and post field data requests (to data management, drafting, logging staff) and scanning and filing of information associated with field activities
Function effectively within and contribute to the success of a collaborative team
What We Are Looking For
A degree or technical diploma in environmental science, geology, hydrogeology or engineering
A minimum of three (3) years’ previous environmental or project management experience
Eligibility for registration in or maintaining a good standing in a professional organization
Self-motivated and possess strong communication skills (verbal and written)
Experience writing technical reports or reviewing technical data and managing client relationships
Willingness to provide direction and mentorship to more junior professionals
Knowledge of Alberta and BC regulatory framework would be considered an asset
Project management experience in assessment, remediation, reclamation or monitoring projects in Western Canada or familiarity with the Oil & Gas industry would be considered an asset
Experience with Workday software would be an asset
Experience working with various hand tools and mechanical equipment would be considered an asset
A valid and clean driver’s license with no restrictions.
