DESCRIPTION OF POSITION’S ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Under the general direction of the Environmental Manager, the Environmental Engineer will coordinate the groundwater and surface water hydrologic monitoring and reporting as required by the company’s mining and discharge permits, and coordinate the company’s air quality permits. The Environmental Engineer will also provide necessary hydrologic design and construction support for mining permit applications and approval.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A BS degree in Civil, Mining or Environmental Engineering is required. Registration as an Engineer-In-Training is highly recommended; registration as a Professional Engineer is preferred. Minimum of 5 years in mining or related experience is preferred. Experience in database and computer programs such as AutoCAD, Carlson, Word, Access and Excel is required.
Knowledge of surface coal mining methods, operating procedures and economics is preferred. Knowledge of engineering requirements of permit applications and appropriate state and federal laws/regulations is also preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state regulations and laws governing surface and groundwater is required.
