MAIN OBJECTIVE OF ROLE
To ensure flydubai’s compliance with environmental regulations and implement National and International Aviation Environment regulations, while supporting to define appropriate sustainability strategies, policies, and KPIs. This role requires a deep understanding of aviation environmental issues, strong analytical skills, and the ability to drive change within the organization to achieve environmental objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures that the airline strictly complies with Aviation Environment regulations, fuel mandates, noise regulations, and waste management requirements, set by International aviation agencies and National aviation authorities and government agencies, maintaining environmental standards.
- Prepares and submits environmental reports, including emissions data and other required environmental performance metrics, to regulatory authorities and other stakeholders in accordance with industry regulations.
- Maintains detailed records and documentation related to environmental initiatives and compliance efforts, ensuring thoroughness for auditing and reporting purposes.
- Participates as necessary in national and international environment committees, working groups, and ad hoc Groups (e.g. ICAO, IATA. AACO) to represent flydubai’s interest.
- Develops and implements strategies aimed at mitigating the airline's environmental impacts, encompassing initiatives to reduce carbon emissions, fuel consumption, and noise levels, potentially including the adoption of more fuel-efficient aircraft, optimization of flight routes, and exploration of fuel-saving practices.
- Creates and executes long-term sustainability plans and objectives for the airline, including establishing targets for emissions reduction, waste reduction, and other key environmental metrics, and developing action plans to achieve these objectives.
- Engages in Sustainability reporting for the company, while also contributing to the development of the company’s sustainability portfolio.
- Provides guidance to department management on effective Aviation Environment Strategies and Policies, offering insights into Aviation Climate Change and related environmental matters within the aviation industry.
- Identifies opportunities for enhancing operational efficiency, to minimize environmental impact, such as optimizing aircraft turnaround times, improving maintenance practices, and reducing resource waste.
- Introduces relevant Environmental KPIs for the business and periodically monitors these KPIs through statistical analysis of flydubai operations.
- Engages in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including aviation authorities, environmental agencies, and community groups, to address environmental concerns and build partnerships aimed at promoting sustainable aviation practices.
- Stays abreast of industry advancements, emerging technologies, and best practices in aviation environmental management to identify and propose innovative solutions that mitigate the airline's environmental impact.
- Conduct training and awareness programs and campaigns for airline employees to instill comprehension and adherence to environmental policies and practices, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility within the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Minimum Education Level
·Bachelor's Degree (3+ years)

·Degree in Engineering, Aviation, Aviation Environment, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field of study of equivalent standing.

Professional Experience
·Previous experience within the aviation sector.
·Proficient comprehension of the ICAO Annex 16 Vol 4 regulations and EU Emissions Trading System (EUETS).
·Familiarity with sustainability policies and strategies.
·Extensive knowledge of aviation environmental concerns, along with strong analytical capabilities.

ISR REQUIREMENTS
Reads and complies with the ISR policies of the Company and diligently reports any weakness or incidents to the respective Line Manager or the Information Security team. Completes all required ISR awareness sessions and follows associated guidelines in the day-to-day business operations.
