The successful candidate will be a key leader in the Global Engineering Services Sustainability and Automation (GES-S&A) Execution Planning team. They will be responsible for the execution planning, communication, and tracking of Sustainability initiatives to drive buildings-focused decarbonization, energy efficiency, and resource positivity (waste, water, biodiversity) for the First (CF), Middle (ATS), and/or Last (AMZL) Mile business units (BU) GES supports in the US and Emerging Countries (Mexico, Brazil, Singapore, Australia). The Sr Sustainability Execution Planning PM’s focus will be to ensure connectivity between BU sustainability strategies and the implementation by GES Execution teams, foster thought leadership, and enhance data transparency and communications. This opportunity combines technical construction engineering disciplines, program planning, project management, facilities management, and contract management. It requires a person who can demonstrate proven ability in planning, design, and project management, as well as experience in controlling sustainability requirements for new buildings and enhancing existing buildings (ideally in the industrial or logistics sectors). Participation during a previous new FC/SC/DS Launch at Amazon in any role would be desired. Spanish, German, French, Polish, Arabic, and Turkish are considered preferred qualifications. Scope of the Sr Sustainability Execution Planning PM:
• Directly or indirectly lead a team of Sustainable Execution Planning PMs across one or more Operations Business Units (CF, ATS, AMZL), focused on New Build and/or Retrofit Sustainability programs
• Work with stakeholder teams including Operations Business Unit (CF, ATS, AMZL) Sustainability teams, WW Ops Sustainability, Engineering, Procurement, RME, IT and others to develop, prioritize, and create execution plans for Sustainability initiatives in New Launches and retrofits of existing buildings.
• Drive the construction ideation, scoping, and design phase of new sustainability retrofit programs (end-of-life systems renewal with best-in-class energy efficiency, enhancement of existing systems with energy- and carbon-saving alternatives such as HVAC, lighting, BMS, etc.) and Sustainability inclusions into new buildings as either low-carbon materials, specification updates, or data collection processes.
• Develop a strong understanding of the CF, ATS, and AMZL Design Standards and Design Criteria, and coordinate technical and standards review with the Design and Construction Technology Team, Global Realty Engineering, and other primary stakeholder teams.
• Supporting Construction and Pre-Construction Managers as an SME on Sustainability initiative implementation and tracking and in representing GES/D&C in Sustainability tender/scope of work conversations with GC/Developers.
• Redevelop, launch, and become the PPO of the Sustainability Initiative intake mechanism. This process path will be used to convert new sustainability initiatives, incoming from all stakeholders, into executable pilots, projects, and programs via the key REI phases of Ideation, Scoping, and Design.
• Support lease renewals by driving landlord contributions for energy efficiency-focused retrofit enhancements.
Key job responsibilities
• Lead a high performing team of Sustainability Execution Planning Program Managers through a people-focused approach
• Oversee construction engineering, planning, and design for 1) Sustainability inclusions into new buildings and 2) Sustainability retrofits for existing buildings to reduce energy consumption through inclusion of high efficiency building equipment.
• Track carbon footprint of new launches, perform engineering calculations when comparing design alternates, reviewing material/equipment specifications to assess energy usage, efficiency, carbon footprint impact, payback, etc.
• Maintain a program-level view to be able to drive decisions and direction while remaining informed about site-level progress.
• Provide visibility to leadership in challenging situations where tradeoffs have high opportunity cost.
• Liaising with the Project Management Office (PMO) for budget/labor planning, milestones reporting, and highlighting program-related risk.
• Prepare reports, specifications, and technical analyses to fully define the design requirements, equipment, and services required for Sustainability inclusions.
• Surveying FCs, developing and documenting procedures to audit FCs, providing evaluations and analyses, and recommending energy- and carbon-saving solutions to building mechanical systems and core-and-shell.
• Evaluate embodied and operational carbon of BTS building designs, implement strategies to reduce carbon intensity of Amazon facilities.
• Serve as sustainability SME for internal, external stakeholders and communicate with pre-construction managers, construction managers, general contractors, design teams.
• Excellent communicator adept in challenging issues, facilitating effective collaboration, and providing concise direction.
• Manage contractors, designers, and consultants for carbon modelling, carbon reduction, and/or energy-efficiency studies.
• Liaise and work with permitting authorities to support Sustainability inclusions in new and existing buildings.
• Facilitate and partner with stakeholder teams (Global Realty Engineering, Asset Management, Finance, Construction Tech, WW Ops Sustainability, etc) on due diligence evaluations of new opportunities.
• Establish and operate the information systems necessary to track progress of the execution of Sustainability inclusions across New Build and Retrofit programs that the candidate is responsible for as part of the team.
• Collection and lessons learned and coaching of other team members on best practices.

- LEED Accredited Professional, PE, CEM, LFA, or other building professional accreditation
- Experience reading and interpreting building engineering drawings
- 5+ years of demonstrated sustainable building project experience · Experience with current building regulations
- Green building experience with demonstrated industry-leading sustainability design and construction

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market.
