Clermont Open Cut is currently seeking an experienced Senior Environment and Community Advisor to support our Environment & Community team on site. Located on the western edge of the Bowen Basin, Clermont Open Cut is a high performing truck & shovel operation that produces 12 million tonnes of coal per annum. Clermont Open Cut Operation is a safe, and inclusive workplace focused on delivering high performance outcomes. Reporting to the Environment & Community Manager, this role will offer variety and opportunity to the right individual.
In this role you will be responsible for:
Providing leadership, technical advice and operational support for environmental management and community engagement activities across Clermont Open Cut
Leading and prioritising Environment & Community activities and capital projects around critical issues to deliver the required business outcomes in a safe, cost effective and timely manner
Monitoring and maintaining compliance with Queensland legislation and GCAA requirements, including planning, environmental compliance and mining approvals
Coordinating and undertaking corporate and site related environmental management inspections, initiatives, training and reporting
Developing and maintaining positive relationships with external stakeholders, including the local community, traditional owners and other stakeholders
Requirements of the role include:
Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or related discipline
Minimum 3 years’ experience in environment and community roles within the mining industry
A thorough understanding of Queensland environmental legislation and approvals framework, water management, and community engagement will be highly regarded
Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
A positive attitude and the ability to build strong relationships with various stakeholders
Experience in geographical information systems (GIS) and databases
Proactive attitude to safety, a strong work ethic, and leadership capabilities
Demonstrated supervisory experience and S1,2,3 (desirable)
QLD Drivers Licence
This role requires a safety conscious candidate prepared to challenge the norm, drive continuous improvement and who can demonstrate experience in implementing best practise using a hands-on approach.
