Roles and Responsibilities
Risk Assessment and Management:
- Identify and evaluate sustainability risks, including environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors;
- Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate identified risks;
- Monitor and report on sustainability risk exposure and performance.
Policy Development:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability into corporate policies and procedures;
- Ensure alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
Stakeholder Management:
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote sustainability initiatives;
- Communicate sustainability risks and opportunities to senior management and the board.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with relevant sustainability regulations and standards;
- Prepare and oversee sustainability risk reports and disclosures.
Training and Awareness:
- Develop and deliver training programs to raise awareness of sustainability risks and best practices;
- Foster a culture of sustainability within the organisation.
Experience
- Proven experience in sustainability, risk management, or a related field;
- Experience in developing and implementing sustainability strategies;
- Proven experience in working within ESG at senior level within financial services or insurance;
- Strong knowledge of sustainability principles, including environmental regulations, sustainable business practices and corporate social responsibility;
- Demonstrated accountability in developing and implementing sustainability strategies that drive business performance while achieving environment and social objectives.
Skills
- Critical thinking skills to solve problems and enact creative thinking to provide solutions;
- Ability to identify areas of inefficiency or areas of opportunity for maximising sustainability throughout the organisation;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments;
- Proficiency in sustainability reporting tools and software.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Risk Management, or a related field;
- Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g. CSR-P, GARP) is desirable.
