Summary:
The Primary responsibility is to lead and develop sustainability services within the respective Regions or globally. She / he will be responsible for leading, developing and coordinating all regional or global activities in line with the global sustainability (business development) strategy and program deliveries. She / he is the part of the Business Stream “Products” Central Sustainability Team and responsible for driving the sustainability business development of different Business Fields to meet the needs of the TUV Rheinland customers regionally and globally.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
60% Business Development
- Regional responsibility for sustainability business development.
- Develop specific regional sustainability growth strategy, service portfolio, rollout plan and roadmap.
· Act as technical sales to support the sales teams to grow sustainability services. - Support the Business Fields to develop specific regional account strategies, targets and action plans for
sustainability services. - Ensure that regional teams and strategy are aligned with peers within the TUV Rheinland global group.
- Identify new and strategic partnership and stakeholder engagement opportunities with a focus on product
sustainability: - E.g. further develop eco-efficient business growth with the electrical, electronic, solar products, medical
devices and components manufacturer client base. - Represent TUV Rheinland sustainability team at sustainability conferences and industry events and working
groups, such as etc.
40% Project Delivery and Technical Support
- Support the global sustainability team in the development of new services:
- Materiality assessment, Product LCA, EPD, DPP (Digital Product Pass), PCF verification, sustainable products and packaging, EU Green Deal (R – Strategy) and more.
- Lead or support sustainability services project delivery for ESG benchmark studies, PCF calculations and verifications etc.
- Train experts to become qualified the execute and deliver sustainability services
- Support global sustainability team to develop sales toolkit and internal program SOPs.
- Act as technical contact point in the region for sustainability services.
- Act as local sustainability champion and train the trainer to train the sales teams on sustainability topics.
- Support the sales team on sustainability services pipeline management and oversee project implementation.
- Monitor and identify regional sustainability trends and regulations update and inform internal stakeholders and clients regularly.
Candidate Qualification
Education
- University degree in environmental science & engineering, material science, chemistry and other relevant subjects.
- Masters or other degree particularly related to sustainability / ESG preferred.
Experience and skills:
- Passionate about making an impact in sustainability with broad knowledge of ESG trends.
- 5 years professional experience in sustainability consulting, business development or leading within a company’s sustainability program.
- Demonstrated capability and effectiveness, from strategy setting to detailed execution and achievements.
- Sector experience in manufacturing industry for electrical, electronic, solar products and components (e.g. batteries) preferred.
- Working knowledge in one or more of the following preferred:
- Housing sustainability schemes LEED / WELL (US), BREEAM (US), DGNB (DE) and others
- Eco-efficient electrical, electronic, commercial and solar products, medical devices
- Product carbon reporting and verification
- Product Life Cycle Assessments
- Knowledge and experience implementing recognized non-financial reporting frameworks
- Experience in all aspects and forms of disclosure and assurance
- Excellent English communication skills in all forms, including written, presentation and public speaking, for engagement with clients, NGOs, industry groups, and internal teams, additional languages will be a plus.
- Customer focused and demonstrated ability to quickly assess and understand clients’ sustainability challenges and provide applicable technical solutions accordingly.
- Demonstrated skill in the management of complex projects with challenging deadlines.
- Self-starter and team player with strategic thinking and problem solving skill.
