As a Global Environmental & Social Risks Senior Associate, you will support the Global Banking franchise by reviewing clients and transactions according to the firm's E&S Policy Framework. Positioned in the first Line of Defense, the team provides guidance and manages E&S risks. This role offers exposure to ESG issues across various geographies and financial products. You will independently assess deals, lead E&S due diligence, and contribute to strategic objectives. You should be a self-starter with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of sustainability and ESG issues.
Job Responsibilities:
- Evaluate E&S requirements for relevant transactions
- Analyze the E&S profile and performance of clients
- Support bankers and deal teams by advising clients on E&S issues when necessary
- Serve as an E&S subject matter expert and collaborate with key internal stakeholders on E&S topics
- Enhance the training of bankers and deal teams in E&S risk assessment
- Contribute to the team's strategic planning, objectives, and key results
- Provide essential analysis and deliverables related to ESG risks and procedures
- Engage with a wide range of internal stakeholders to influence the firm's broader E&S agenda
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- Relevant experience in environmental and social risk or sustainability, ideally within the financial services industry, ESG analysis, consultancy firms, or key sectors such as oil and gas, mining, power, and commodities.
- A university degree in a pertinent field, such as environmental studies, sustainability, geography, development economics, or finance.
- Strong understanding of banking products and decision-making processes.
- Proactive self-starter with the ability to provide timely and accurate value-added support to business partners and clients.
- Ability to perform well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly, accurately, and succinctly, both in writing and verbally.
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
- Knowledge of sustainable finance regulations and market developments, including taxonomies, the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures, and ESG product ratings.
- A data-driven mindset.
