Job Description:
Responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring company environment, health and safety (EHS) programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state and local environmental health and safety regulations. Work to reduce company risk and liability in all aspects of EHS. Assists in a variety of duties to include, sampling, observations, training and inspections. Works with stakeholders in the organization during space planning, building expansions and/or other changes in facilities or work areas to ensure EHS requirements and regulations are met. Assists with root cause analysis when EHS incidents occur and recommends corrective action where environmental, health and safety hazards exist. Responsible for monitoring and driving sustainability initiatives.
Essential Functions:
- Senior professional with strong knowledge of job area and broad knowledge of project management.
- Manages complex projects or processes with general oversight. Communicates within and outside of own function to gain cooperation on operational processes, practices, and procedures.
- Makes moderate to substantial improvements to systems and processes. Contributes to achievement of departmental goals and operating plans with direct impact on the departmental results.
- Perform hazard analysis and risk assessments.
- Assists in accident investigations and recommends corrective actions.
- Conduct routine audits and inspections to identify and eliminate non-compliance issues.
- Manage projects related to energetics and safety; including participation in incident investigation, risk management, and process hazard analysis.
- Conduct training and communication campaigns to raise site-wide awareness.
- Serve as interface and liaisons with employees, manager, customers, auditors, and regulators.
- 5% travel required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant EHS experience.
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related EHS experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related EHS experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experienced in OSHA 1910 General Industry.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience in project management.
- Experienced in OSHA 29 CFR 1910 General Industry.
- Knowledge of standards, OSHA, NFPA, NEC, and ANSI including familiarity with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to work within a high pressure and fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated and analytical with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-function/cross-site teams.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Read and understand facility site schematics and building design plans.
- Knowledgeable in munitions, explosives, and energetic materials, and related disciplines, the effects of munitions, the means of preventing or reducing explosive mishaps, and the relationship between quantity-distance siting criteria and personnel safety.
- High level of communication skills and an understanding of escalation requirements to higher authorities.
- Experience and/or training knowledge of Confined Spaces, Fall Protection, Lock Out Tag Out, Machine Guarding, Electrical Safety NFPA 70E and Propellant, Energetics & Pyrotechnics.
