Perform assigned inspections, evaluations, and investigations related to elevated blood lead levels in children for the Public Health Regional OfficeAs an EPA certified Lead Risk Assessor, conduct investigations and lead risk assessments in homes and other locations associated with elevated blood lead levels in children.
Write summary reports for environmental assessments and clearly communicate with property owners, residents, and team members.
Update and maintain cases in DPH's electronic surveillance system. Other duties as assigned, including participation in emergency response subject to call back 24/7.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Minimum Requirements: Some positions require the possession of a valid driver's license. Some positions require the successful completion of specialized courses in health physics or certification as a health physicist. A high school diploma and experience in environmental health programs or radiological health. A bachelor's degree in the natural or physical sciences, mathematics, public health, engineering or a related technical field may be substituted for the required work experience.
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Preferred Qualifications
Current or previous EPA Lead Risk Assessor certification.

DRIVING RECORD: If this position requires the applicant to possess a valid driver’s license to operate a state vehicle or personal vehicle, any applicant being considered in the final stages of selection for the position will be required to provide a certified copy of a 10-year driving record.
