Job Description
The EHS Specialist II will be responsible for managing the onsite safety program, ensuring compliance with general best practices for construction project safety. This is an ideal position for someone with great attention to detail, good communication skills, and the ability to work well with key representatives and management at a federal client site.
Responsibilities
Provide safety indoctrination to all construction site visitors and new employees.
Provide communication, training and enforcement of policies to staff.
Make recommendations on safety improvements.
Conduct job hazards analyses to identify hazards and potential risks.
Complete workplace safety audits and ensure remedial action where necessary.
Implement and enforce accident prevention plans and activity hazard analyses.
Ensure contractor compliance with all safety and health requirements.
Conduct daily walkthrough of the site ensuring that work is being accomplished safely, and that occupational health is not being compromised.
Interpret and apply regulatory requirements applicable to the project scope of work.
Develop site-specific safety programs/plans inclusive of emergency actions, responses, evacuation and security plans.
Conduct daily safety and health inspections and mishap investigations.
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
Qualifications
Candidates must be capable of being cleared for secure facility access on a federal facility.
A bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health or related field is a plus but will consider experience in lieu of a degree.
A minimum of 3 years safety work on construction projects.
OSHA 30 Hour Certificate required.
Must have a comprehensive knowledge of EM 385-1-1 and meet the requirements of Section 01.A.17.
Must have worked as an EHS Specialist II on a project larger than $10 million.
Desired Skills:
First-Aid/CPR Certification is preferred.
Completion of the 40-hour construction safety hazards awareness training with current valid certification is a plus.
