Make your mark in Environmental Impairment Liability Underwriting
AIG Underwriting teams help to find insurance solutions in areas including Financial Lines, Property, Casualty, Specialty Lines, Cyber, and Multinational Clients. How you will create an impact
As an Environmental Underwriter, you will be responsible for underwriting new and renewal policies for Pollution Legal Liability and Contractors Pollution Liability exposures. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining strong market relationships, executing sophisticated business development activities, attending client and broker meetings, discussing client risk, AIG’s product, and presenting AIG EIL underwriting appetite. This role is a great combination of a very technical product, environmental risk knowledge, as well as market facing business development.
Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:
- Underwriting a profitable portfolio of policies, based on AIG business strategy and appetite.
- A strong business development focus
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer (client and broker) relationships
- Collaborative and co-operative approach to business working as a team with colleagues
- High service ethic, including responsiveness, awareness of customer, and ability to manage expectations in accordance with AIG Casualty Service expectations
- Well-developed and proven negotiation skills
- Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support the sourcing of high-quality submissions
- Use pricing tools and judgement to produce technical target premium, coverage terms/conditions and deal structure.
- Quote and negotiate with brokers for new business, renewals and material MTA’s.
- Adhere to AIG underwriting policies, practices and procedures.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Previous underwriting experience as an EIL Underwriter is desired, however, open to applications from people passionate about environmental risks, who have experience as an Environmental consultant/engineering or another applicable role.
- An undergraduate degree, degree within an Environmental subject such as Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Biology, would be advantageous
- Proficient in terms of; Analytical skills of numeric data and ability to interpret, apply actuarial pricing guidelines to specific situations. Sales, negotiation, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills – written and verbal. Detail orientation.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships internally and externally.
- Highly motivated, professional and results driven.
- Ability to work in dynamic and fast-paced environment, adapt to changing requirements and collaborate with a wide range of colleagues to deliver solutions.
- Comfort with analytical tools and technology.
- Ability to communicate reasoning behind generated premium, terms and conditions.
- Willingness to be flexible, learn on the job, and maintain a can-do attitude.
- Awareness of developments and trends in the Commercial Insurance sector relating to Environmental
