The Role
We are looking for a Lifting Equipment Inspection and Maintenance Engineer to join us and ensure the safe and efficient operation of all lifting equipment used in our onshore substations and offshore platforms. You will perform statutory inspections, maintenance and certification of all lifting equipment ,access equipment and lifting machines, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. You will also support the planning and execution of lifting equipment repairs and maintenance.
We are looking for excellent problem-solving skills, technical ability and experience of testing, inspection, repairing and operating multiple crane and lifting systems.
This role will be classed as home based with travel to all of our OFTO sites - onshore and offshore

Role Accountabilities
- Ensure that all crane and lifting equipment complies with the relevant local, national, and international safety standards and regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards associated with statutory inspections, maintenance and repairs.
- Carry out statutory Inspections of cranes and lifting equipment in line with James Fisher Renewables procedures to ensure they are in safe working order.
- Ensure that companies’ products, or services comply with the relevant LOLER regulations or standards.
- Recommend or enforce corrective actions where non-compliance is found.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure the longevity and reliability of the cranes and lifting equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues in cranes and lifting systems to minimise downtime.
- Recommend and implement upgrades to improve the efficiency, safety, and functionality of existing crane systems.
- Plan and oversee projects related to the installation or upgrade of crane systems, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
- Maintain detailed records of all design, maintenance, and operational activities.
- Offer technical support to Operations and Maintenance teams, providing guidance on complex issues.
- Working with the JFR Appointed Person for Lifting operations, ensure all crane operations comply with relevant industry standards and legal requirements.
- Prepare detailed reports based on inspection findings, documenting any violations, deficiencies, or areas of concern.
- Clearly communicate system designs, benefits, and any potential issues to clients and stakeholders.
- Provide technical support to clients and on-site personnel to ensure the system is operated and maintained correctly.
Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience as a Lifting Equipment and Crane engineer, with a strong understanding of crane systems and lifting equipment.
- LEEA Qualification (essential).
- Crane Operators License.
- Comprehensive knowledge of lifting equipment and industry standards and regulatory requirements (LOLER/PUWER).
- Strong diagnostic and problem solving skills.
- Crane maintenance and repair experience.
- 18th Edition Electrical Qualification (desirable).
- Experience, working in an offshore environment (GWOs).
- Clean full driving license (essential).
