We are now looking for a
Doctoral Researcher in the Field of Printed Electronics and Energy Storage Systems
to join us in the Research unit of Optoelectronics and Measurement Techniques at the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering.
The Optoelectronics and Measurement Techniques (OPEM) research unit specialises in demanding applications within the fields of biophotonics, biomedical and industrial measurements, and printed intelligence.
About the job
On this project-based assignment you will focus on the development of flexible and printed battery systems.
You will conduct:
- Extensive literature review of the related topics,
- Laboratory works related to slurry and ink formulations
- Printing trials
- Implementation of sustainable solvents and materials
- Testing and measurements of fabricated/printed structures
- Report creation and scientific publications preparation.

Who are you?
We expect that you will:
- Be familiar with the academic writing with sufficient experience to conduct independent literature research
- Be familiar with the basics of formulating inks and slurries with an emphasis on energy applications
- Have experience with using materials printers,
- Posses knowledge of implementing sustainable solvents and materials,
- Basic knowledge of battery testing and characterization,
- Fluent in scientific writing.
In order to succeed and enjoy the position, we expect from you:
- Master's degree in the Electrical engineering, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering fields
- Excellent/very good grades achieved during your M.Sc. degree
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- IT skills, communication skills

- Finnish language skills
- Hands-on experience in the printed electronics and/or battery fabrication
Salary
The position isfixed-term for3 years as of 1st of January 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The salary will be based on levels 2-4 of the demand level chart for teaching and research staff of Finnish universities. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid (a maximum of 50 % of the job-specific component). The starting gross salary will be approx. 2500-2900 € per month (before taxes). A trial period of 6months is applied for the position.
