As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to the planning, implementation, and optimization of energy management systems and decarbonization technologies. You will collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to develop and apply systems that improve energy efficiency on offshore rigs, ensuring a smooth transition toward a low-carbon operation. Your role will involve supporting the rollout of Energy Management Plans, Sustainable Behavior Programs and taking part in optimizing power consumption across various offshore assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with teams onshore and offshore from operations, sustainability, commercial, and innovation to define project objectives, timelines, and milestones, contributing to overall energy efficiency efforts.
- Support the rollout of Energy Management Plans and Sustainable Behavior Programs across Noble’s offshore operations, focusing on the optimization of power systems and energy usage.
- Assist in conducting feasibility studies and technical assessments to evaluate the viability of energy-efficient technologies and their application in offshore rigs.
- Take part in the design, implementation, and retrofitting of mechanical, hydraulic, and rotating equipment systems aimed at reducing energy consumption and improving efficiency.
- Engage with technology providers and contractors to evaluate energy-saving technologies, facilitating the testing and pilot implementation of solutions across Noble’s fleet.
- Monitor power consumption data and energy performance, identifying areas for improvement and suggesting innovative, practical solutions to enhance energy efficiency.
- Contribute to testing and validation activities, ensuring that energy management solutions meet performance expectations and regulatory standards.
- Maintain documentation of project activities, including energy assessments, progress reports, and efficiency improvement plans, ensuring clear communication to stakeholders and senior management.
- Stay informed on emerging trends and technologies in energy efficiency, offshore engineering, and decarbonization to ensure Noble remains a leader in sustainable offshore operations.
What We Are Looking For
- Offshore Expertise: Experience working on offshore rigs, including the operation of mechanical and especially drilling systems.
- Experience: A minimum of 5-10 years of engineering experience in the offshore drilling or oil and gas industry, with relevant experience in energy efficiency and power system optimization.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Energy Management: Familiarity with energy management systems and experience participating in energy-saving initiatives or projects in an offshore environment.
- Project Support: Experience in contributing to cross-functional engineering projects, with an emphasis on collaborating with various teams and external stakeholders.
- Problem Solving & Innovation: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify energy-saving opportunities, and propose solutions that align with decarbonization goals.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively work with onshore and offshore teams and manage relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of offshore drilling regulations and best practices in energy efficiency, including power generation, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics in offshore settings.
Travel Expectations
Noble Corporation operates globally, with an expectation of approximately 30 days of travel per year to support decarbonization and energy efficiency initiatives across different offshore locations.
