Job Description
B&P Net Zero and Decarbonisation lead, working with EURI B&P Leadership teams and Energy PMO to establish AECOM as market leader in net zero and decarbonisation services within the EURI region. As a leader establish and grow a cabinet and group of subject matter experts that can collectively engage with B&P clients and identify solutions to solve client requirements, generating and creating revenue opportunities for AECOM.
Role Expectations
- Chair B&P EURI Net Zero cabinet to collectively drive technical offer on net zero and decarbonisation Technical Excellence into our practices, set objectives and deliver against
- Co-ordination of net zero and decarbonisation offer across B&P
- Establish and drive Net Zero standards AECOM offer should achieve and implementation of them
- Development and co-ordination net zero process and tools and incorporate into our offer
- Training and development in net zero so our practices deliver market leading offer.
- Sharing of best practice
- Cascading key messages from AECOM on net zero and decarbonisation
- Engagement with external trade bodies and external profile raising
- Identifying market trends in net zero and decarbonisation, shaping AECOM offer to respond. Undertake competitor analysis to understand our market position.
- Lead (or identify through the B&P NZ cabinet) a point of contact for following to provide B&P EURI input and co-ordinate input and communication back from AECOM Global Net Zero and decarbonisation groups including:
- EURI B&P ESG group – lead on ‘E’
- Portfolio Decarbonisation representative for EURI
- Decarbonisation TPG
- Scope X
- Lead (or identify thought B&P NZ cabinet) client discussions about sustainability and decarbonization, identify opportunities for allocation to delivery teams to bid (and deliver). Building strategically important client relationships.
- Work with Strategy and Growth lead, BU leads/OULs/Sector leads to co-ordinate net zero and decarbonisation technical services into ECP, Tier 2 and strategically important bids.
- Support Cross Business Line Energy Transition Project market positioning and work winning working with the Energy Transition PMO lead and the representatives from other Business Lines and geographies.
- Engagement with marketing to support to positively raise our brand and profile of net zero and decarbonisation services thought leadership articles and Op-Eds aligned with strategic priorities. Work with marketing to ensure marketing material to demonstrate and showcase and our net zero offer.

Professional Experience
With over 10 years of proven success in sustainability, net zero, or decarbonisation roles—ideally within the built environment or infrastructure sectors—the candidate should demonstrate a strong track record of leadership and innovation. This includes leading multi-disciplinary teams, steering committees, or technical groups to drive meaningful outcomes. A history of developing and implementing net zero and decarbonisation strategies, processes, and tools at both corporate and project levels is essential.
Technical Expertise
The role demands an in-depth understanding of net zero standards, frameworks, and regulations. Expertise in net zero technical solutions, portfolio decarbonisation, energy transition projects, and conducting sustainability assessments is required. Additionally, familiarity with industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor analysis within the net zero and decarbonisation landscape is crucial for success.
Strategic and Client Engagement
A strong background in market positioning and business development within the net zero and decarbonisation domain is critical. The candidate must excel in leading client discussions, building strategic relationships, and identifying opportunities for project bidding and delivery. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to seamlessly integrate technical sustainability services into strategic bids is a key aspect of this role.
Communication and Training
The ability to effectively communicate and cascade key sustainability messages and best practices across diverse teams and geographic regions is essential. The candidate should have a proven record of public speaking, thought leadership, and external engagement, including active participation in trade bodies, publications, and industry events. Strong communication skills will also support training initiatives to ensure teams remain at the forefront of market-leading practices.
