Your Responsibilities
As a Part Time Student - Battery Management System Engineering for John Deere Power Systems located in Urbana Champaign, IL, you will....

Form part of the global team that is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of battery management system (BMS) software including state of charge (SOC), state of power (SOP), state of health (SOH), balancing, state machine, charging, thermal management, diagnostics, and safety functions, etc.
This position is not available to students on immigration visas
What Skills You Need
- Enrolled in an engineering undergraduate program
- Completion of sophomore year of studies by the time of the employment
- Experience with C coding
- Minimum required cumulative GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale. (3.4 or higher preferred)
- Hands on experience and coursework on embedded control systems and software
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink
- Experience with standard lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and loads
- Strong communication (verbal and written), analytical, and teamwork skills
- Self-motivated and fast learning skills
- Available to work 10+ hours/week during the academic year
- Available to work 40 hours/week over the summer
- Must be able to work at the John Deere Technology Innovation Center (UIUC Research Park)
What Makes You Stand Out
- Enrolled in an engineering graduate program
- Advanced coursework on control systems and lithium-ion batteries
- Hands on experience with low-level embedded software, e.g. operating systems, drivers, communication, microcontroller hardware abstraction layer, etc.
- Involvement with a school club, project, or research working on batteries, electric vehicles, etc.
- Applied experience with battery management system test equipment and data acquisition plus experience with MIL, SIL, and HIL testing methodologies for battery management system testing
- Passionate about vehicle electrification & battery technology
