What you will do:
By assisting the Operations Manager, the purpose of the job is to enable the manufacturing of the products of the Polysilicon division at the Charleston site to satisfy division targets and goals, while considering all aspects of occupational safety, process safety, environmental protection, and production quality, through appropriate use of EHSS, technical, organizational, and human resources. In addition, The Assistant Operations Manager shall give due consideration to the needs and potential of the corresponding departments, observe internal company regulations (e.g., corporate policies concerning safety, the environment, and quality) and strategic division targets, as well as all prevailing industry standards and regulations.
Managerial Duties
- Plan, manage, monitor and coordinate processes in the area of responsibility with the goal of continual improvement (quality, safety, environmental protection, productivity, costs)
- Contributes/Conducts the Plant Team meeting for area of responsibility.
- Responsible for Procedures (SOP's, Operating Manuals etc.) in the area of responsibility. Assure compliance of said procedures with all applying regulations.
- Monitor production results for continuous improvement purposes (safety, quality, productivity, cost-effectiveness, and the environment)
- Fulfill corporate obligations in regard to compliance with safety and environmental protection legislation
- Plan and coordinate necessary maintenance/revision activities with all involved parties, including internal and external service suppliers.
- Optimize the integrated Silanes/Poly/HDK production system ("Verbund") through elaboration/initiation of cross-operational improvement measures.
- Manages or supervises department day shift team members (TS)
Specialized Duties
- Ensure the attainment of planned production targets at the required level of quality.
- Prepare proposals for capital investment to ensure, optimize and expand production capacity.
- Monitoring and supervising installations; troubleshooting or organizing troubleshooting; coordinating of such with affiliated companies.
- Responsible for RCA on quality concerns (8Ds, etc.) in area of responsibility
- Create and oversee execution of Energy Isolation Plans
- Assuring proper disposal of recyclables and waste
- Continuously monitor workflows to identify areas for potential rationalization, making suggestions for potential process changes
- Participate in the planning and specification of priorities for development and production proposals.
- Preparing and supervising routine repairs and maintenance work including major shutdowns; coordination with Engineering and shift operations; managing inspections and making the installations available for inspections
- New installations and process changes: applying operating knowledge to planning and execution; plant safety instructions for construction workers; checks prior to start-up; start-up; initiation to permanent operation.
- Participate in strategic projects.
- On-Call duties required for Deposition/H2R
- Maintain and improve 5S, corrosion and safety appearance/performance of the whole Deposition Department to set site benchmark and assure semiconductor standards on site.
- Perform other duties as required.
What we need from you:
- Internal Candidates: Associate degree in a technical field and 10+ years of process engineering, industrial engineering, or similar field experience; 5-7 years’ experience if have a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
- External Candidates: Bachelor's degree in a technical field; 5-7years, process engineering, industrial engineering, or similar field experience.
- 3-5 years of management experience (production, development, technical engineering)
- Familiar with business management basics
- Experienced in quality, safety, and environment protection in the semiconductor business
- Chemical production: process and installation technology, chemical processes and methodology, process control technique
- Organization, management and communication: Team Members management and development, operations cost accounting, responsibility for the plant, quality management, information and communication.
- Areas of specialization: Compressors, Adsorption trains, Condensation processes, Refrigeration
- Proficient in computer programs (word, excel, SharePoint, outlook, SAP)
- Proficient in English
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal labor laws
- Pronounced leadership qualities.

- High level of cost consciousness
