JOB SUMMARY: This position will serve Chamizal National Memorial, Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument, and White Sands National Park. The position will be hosted by and duty stationed in El Paso, Texas, at Chamizal National Memorial. This is a term position (more than 1 year) with an initial appointment expecting to last at least 13 months but may be extended up to a total of four years. Term positions do not convey permanent status in the Federal service. MAJOR DUTIES: Sorts permanent versus temporary records using a records schedule to determine record significance, age of record, whether record is duplicate/copy or should be a stand-alone record. Uses File Plan Template to identify the retention, separation, and disposition periods of records. Documents and notates records and obsolete temporary records that have been approved for destruction. Clean, clear out, and box files that will be transferred. Uses the National Park Service File Plan template to create Park's electronic file plan and creates category folders on the Park's designated SharePoint site. Digitizes existing permanent and current temporary files, assigning the designated naming scheme to permanent and current temporary files.
