JOB SUMMARY: This position is located within the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF) for USDA's Agricultural Research Service (ARS) in Manhattan, KS. In this position, you will serve as a working leader who assigns work, sets the pace of the work, provides technical guidance, demonstrates proper work methods, ensures safety rules are followed, checks work in progress and upon completion; and directs and performs a range of maintenance mechanic, plumbing and welding work. MAJOR DUTIES: Leads three or more employees in the Unit who perform maintenance mechanic and plumbing work, and directs other lower graded employees and helpers in accomplishing assigned tasks.
