Job Description and Duties
Under the direction of the Metropolitan Office Chief or another Senior within District 10 Transportation Planning, the incumbent will serve as an interdisciplinary team member at full journey person level. Incumbent will work independently and/or part of a team to perform difficult and complex work to plan. The person will work closely with fellow Caltrans staff and local partners to review and process various types of requests for reimbursements and invoices from the grantees. Reviews reports and documents for accuracy, inputs data into spreadsheets and data bases and submits timely reports from local partners to Headquarters.
The incumbent in this position will assist in workload planning, budgeting, expenditure control for planning by creating and maintaining spreadsheets/database and will provide budget information to supervisors and other staff as needed. The incumbent will also assist Seniors and District Deputy Directors in various administrative tasks, such as assisting with the hiring process and serve as a training coordinator. This person may also assist in the procurement of supplies and inventory control of computers and office equipment. Assisting other staff in making travel arrangements and setting up meetings may also be required occasionally. The person in this position may attend or present at various trainings, public meetings and may provide reports on behalf of the Senior Transportation Planner in a professional manner.
Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Associate Governmental Program Analyst Exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
