Job Description and Duties
Under the general direction of the Network Operations Office Chief, ITM I, the incumbent serves as the Supervisor of the Network Operations Unit. This unit is comprised of IT professionals in various IT classification levels, who are responsible for managing the Caltrans enterprise Network and Video operations (VTC). The incumbent oversees a highly complex network operations consisting of more than 700 sites and collaborates on standards, processes, procedures for the analysis, design, implementation, maintenance, operation and procurement of network, voice and video technologies. The incumbent works closely with the Network Engineering Unit Manager and has responsibility for organizing, planning, coordinating, directing and controlling activities associated with the day-to-day operations of the Network and Video Operations.
Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Information Technology Supervisor II exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
