General Purpose:
Responsible for assisting in the administration and maintenance of health, safety, and environmental management plans, primarily focusing on the Vestas Behavioral Change process; conducting reporting/inspection procedures, assisting as directed with the day to day HSE initiatives within factory location
Responsibilities:

- Work with the HSE team to coordinate the Vestas Behavior Change (VBC) effort
- Facilitate monthly VBC meetings, and other meetings, as needed; take notes and publish them
- Conduct observer training classes, and NEO safety behavior module; mentor other VBC trainers
- Inspect organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determine corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented
- Coach observers and develop a coaching team for VBC observers
- Use observer data and accident data to focus improvement efforts using Action Planning and Problem-Solving techniques
- Inspect organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determine corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented under the direction of a Professional II or HSE Specialist
- Assist with HSE review of change management
- Assist with incident investigations, reporting and follow-up meetings
- Ensure routine Inspections fire suppression equipment, emergency lighting, emergency shower and eyewash units, first-aid supplies, and any other applicable Life Safety device
- Deliver HSE training (i.e. Respiratory Protection Program, Hearing Conservation Program)
- Assist with investigative causes of injuries, accidents, incidents and near misses to identify preventive safety measures for incorporation into the safety program
- Able to use and understand HSE databases and SharePoint sites, including the Vestas 3E SDS Database, Incident Management System (IMS), Safety Walk Database
- Review and assist with documentation changes of HSE procedures in alignment with the HSE Management System
- May maintain Safety Data Sheet (SDS) files locally and via the SDS Database
- Facilitate and perform all duties pertaining to factory compliance for state and federal regulations for handling, storage and disposal of hazardous materials & waste
- Performs training in the Recycling and Hazardous Waste Contingency plans to affected workers. May arrange for disposal of liquid and solid wastes; maintains State-required records
- Assist with creation of HSE communications and promotions for teams, supervisors and managers
- May assist and monitor the administration of worker’s compensation program and tracking for OSHA recordkeeping purposes
- Assist with Safety Committee meetings planning and initiatives
- Back up Emergency Coordinator for facility to include Hazardous Waste Operations & Emergency Response, weather emergencies, fires, shelter in place
- Assist with compilation of agency reports required by regulatory agencies
- Support maintenance of programs and record keeping systems that track and evaluate Legal, ISO, OHSAS and Vestas Corporate compliance to established standards
- Incorporate Vestas Values in all aspects of the job
- Be willing and able to be trained and perform First Aid/CPR
- And all other duties as assigned
Essential Functions:
- Must be able to see and hear alarms, timers and follow verbal instructions.
- Must be able to tolerate an environment where chemicals and materials are used within OSHA guidelines.
- Regular & reliable attendance
- Climb up and down stairs.
- Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions.
- Must possess a valid a driver's license.
- Ability to travel to various factories as position requires it.
Education, Training, and Skills Required:
-
- A high school diploma or general education degree (GED),
- 2+ years related experience/training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required; OSHA 40-hour certification is strongly preferred
- Strong Natural Ability to Work in Teams with ability to schedule and self-manage tasking timetables
- High Degree of Adaptability & Flexibility

- System skills – Microsoft Office Suites functionality and ability to interface with various database programs
- Open to learning HSE, ISO 14001, 45001 program management, Industrial Hygiene principles and equipment – noise dosimeter/mapping of production areas, particulate filters and pumps, operation of multi-gas detectors is helpful
- Understanding of behavior-based programs a plus
- Driver’s license and ability to travel as needed to support local factory needs (<10% travel)
- Comfortable speaking in front of groups teaching/leading
- Ability to locate and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write simple to complex correspondence
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use of hands and fingers to handle and feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stand and walk, as well as travel to other locations, some that may be remote. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Salary Range: $28.00-$36.00
