Global Customs & Trade Team is spearheading the efforts to enhance and develop the Customs & Trade Compliance Processes within Vestas to the next level of excellence. The Global Trade & Customs Team works in association with internal and external stakeholders on various pathbreaking initiatives, such as Customs Cost-Out, AEO Certification, Trade-related development initiatives etc., and is in a constant endeavor to add value to the organization through its various initiatives and programs. In addition to the development initiatives, the Global Customs & Trade Team is also supporting documentation related activities, such as European Union Trade Documentation & Customs Documentation & Services, with an objective to support the Customs & Trade-related transactional and documentation activities in an efficient and effective manner.
Responsibilities
We are looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented Customs & Trade Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing import/export data, identifying potential areas of risk and cost optimization, and developing and implementing risk mitigation & cost-out strategies. Additionally, the candidate will provide guidance to other departments on customs-related matters, including regulatory compliance, and work closely with other teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.Assist in development/continuous improvement of customs compliance program for Vestas globallyEnsure all import/export documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with customs regulationsAnalyze inbound/outbound shipment data, trends and exceptions, present findings to aid continuous improvements, risk mitigation and cost savings
- Maintain a master list of tariff classifications (HS Code), including the applicable supporting documentation for classification
- Analyze Free Trade Agreement and other duty optimization schemes in a structured manner to optimize the customs duty & Origin certification and record keeping
- Support internal and external stakeholders enquiries regarding classification, duty rates, documentation requirements or other import, export customs related matters
- Develop and maintain internal customs compliance policies and procedures, and provide training to staff as necessary
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of customs declarations and filings with relevant authorities
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of global trade regulations and requirements, and monitor changes to trade policies and customs regulations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and other external service providers
- Assist with trade compliance investigations, risk mitigation, audits and self-assessments
Qualifications
- Graduate / Post-Graduate from a reputed Institute or University, preferably in International Business, Supply Chain or related field
- Minimum 5-8 years of proven experience in Customs, Trade Compliance and Trade Documentation area
- Comprehensive understanding of US, EU and APAC import/export customs regulations & regulatory requirements
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret governmental regulations, Customs Policies, Country specific requirements and prepare a summary on the potential impact
- Ability to analyze large data and prepare a Business Case with recommended solution to mitigate the cost
- Hands-on experience with customs clearance, import/export documentation and trade compliance management
- Demonstrated knowledge & Experience in HS (tariff) classification, customs valuation and country of origin Determination
- Good knowledge of import/ customs regulations, Free Trade Agreements, Rules of Origin, Import Duties and taxes, International Regulations
Competencies
- Experienced in crafting the SOP's & reports and presentation skills (the ability to present trade compliance concepts in a technical environment and to persons at all levels)
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Critical thinking and excellent problem solving and analysis skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize, with excellent time management skills
- Capable of working independently in supporting customs and trade compliance objectives and working
- collaboratively with different stakeholders across the business and the regions
- Ability to research information independently & prepare a summary of the findings/observations / Business Impact
- Passion for continuous improvement and learning
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and previous experience of working with SAP would be an added advantage
