Job Description and Duties
Under the supervision of the Senior Transportation Electrical Engineer and direction of one or more Resident Engineers (RE), the Transportation Engineer (Electrical) an Assistant Resident Engineer performs a wide variety of professional engineering work in either a field or office setting. Incumbent is directly responsible for administration of construction contracts and reviews the work of contractor forces.
Incumbent reviews work progress done by the contractor to assure compliance with contract documents. This will include progressive monitoring of materials and methods used as well as inspection of the finished products prior to acceptance. Incumbent assures appropriate measurement and payment is made and all project documentation is complete in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Incumbent is responsible to proactively review the contract documents for identifying and/or preparing any change order needed to resolve conflicts and/or recommend improvements.
Candidates are required to review the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) for this classification. If you meet MQs under Pattern II and require the TE Electrical in-person written hurdle exam, DO NOT TAKE the TE Electrical online exam prior to passing the written hurdle. Candidates who take the TE Electrical online exam prior to passing the written hurdle may negatively impact their hiring eligibility.
