Senior Financial Analyst, Logistics and Fuel
The Senior Financial Analyst, Logistics and Fuel role is an integral position in the financial operations team and Hydrogen Generation and Delivery organization. This role is critical to help drive strategic decision making within the Plug Energy space based upon the measurement of financial data. This position is tasked to assist the finance management team in building out and providing ongoing financial metrics and data points so that business strategies can be refined and improved. The Senior Financial Analyst must also be available to help develop custom reporting and provide fact-based guidance upon request for various business purposes. This role requires a high degree of data-driven analytical support and operational communications with the Hydrogen Generation and Delivery team.
Core Duties And Responsibilities
- Measure and report on Fuel & Logistics KPIs such as: Avg cost per KG delivered, Avg cost per mile delivered, payload per delivery, miles per delivery and others
- Track and measure the hydrogen delivery cost by component such as fuel, labor, insurance, truck lease, and depreciation
- Support the weekly business operations review process with financial data, KPIs, and slide preparation
- Be a strong business partner with operations while supporting the logistics and delivery operations team with insight, analytics, financial guidance, and business counsel.
- Create, maintain, review, and present the Logistics P&L to management
- Monitor, measure, and compare both Plug internal and 3rd party logistics costs
- Provide fuel delivery costs and analytics to the Commercial team for use in business cases
- Book journal entries related to hydrogen tanker inventory in the yard and support other hydrogen related inventory accounting procedures
- Perform booking journal entries and account reconciliations as needed
- Develop and maintain weekly/monthly/quarterly cost reporting for the communication of actual results vs budget and prior year
- Leverage Business Intelligence tools to reduce manual work and automate financial reporting
- Assist in the measurement and tracking of key corporate wide cost down initiatives
- Assist with fuel generation and delivery cost analysis and help identify areas of cost improvement
- Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis as defined by the Operations Leadership Team for business needs
- Assist with ad hoc analysis during the monthly and quarterly close process as well as year-end external audit
- Represent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactions
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Education And Experience
- Bachelors degree in Accounting/Finance; MBA a plus
- Four (4) or more years of related work experience
- Experience in a supply chain or logistics role a plus
- Financial systems ERP experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software including Excel; Power BI a plus
- Demonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail
- Superior communication skills
- Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively
