We are seeking a dedicated EHS Specialist to join our team and play a pivotal role in ensuring safe worksite conditions and supporting the implementation of our safety programs.
Position Overview:
The EHS Specialist will spend the majority of their day on the production floor, proactively monitoring and improving safety conditions. This role requires a sense of urgency, integrity, and a commitment to doing what is in the best interest of Viwinco.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily shift walks to ensure compliance and safe task execution.
- Collaborate with the EHS Manager and supervisors to innovate and enhance worker safety initiatives.
- Conduct and maintain the Safety New Hire Onboarding orientation program.
- Lead the company’s Safety Committee to drive safety engagement.
- Audit Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) compliance (e.g., gloves, safety shoes, protective eyewear, hearing protection).
- Inspect and maintain accurate records for eye wash stations, first aid stations, and fire extinguishers.
- Update and manage the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) list, book, and drive.
- Perform additional duties as necessary to support the safety and compliance goals of the organization.
Qualifications:
- Training in Occupational Safety and Environmental Compliance-related fields preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, particularly 29 CFR 1910.
- At least 1 year of experience in a safety-related role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Outstanding service orientation with a high level of personal integrity and a sense of urgency.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage with all levels of personnel.
- Strong ability to work independently and complete tasks without supervision.
- Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred but not required.
- Effective team player with strong adaptability to changing scenarios.
- Demonstrates good judgment, decision-making skills, and the ability to lead by example.
- Reliable attendance and willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
