Summary/objective
The Environmental Scientist provides direct support, under the direction of a Project Manager or Team Lead, to environmental projects. The Environmental Scientist will complete tasks as assigned using applicable tools and skills to help develop, implement, and maintain management plans and procedures for our clients to ensure compliance with state, federal, and local regulations. The position will conduct fieldwork, complete calculations and other analyses, assist in the preparation of permits and regulatory documents.

Environmental Scientist
- Develops and customizes field data sheets for use during data collection and inspections.
- Conducts a variety of field investigations at client sites, including data collection and site assessments.
- Collects environmental samples from various media (e.g., waste, soil, water, air) following established protocols.
- Prepares and develops permits, plans, reports, and other project-related documentation.
- Collaborates with team members to achieve project objectives and ensure alignment with client goals.
- Assists with preparations for project meetings and addresses client needs as assigned.

Work environment
On-site field visits can be expected along with work done in an office setting.
Office working conditions will occur in a well-lit, climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. The noise level is usually quiet. While performing in-office responsibilities of the job, the employee may be required to spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers.
Field working conditions will occur in areas outside of the office environment. Field environments can include areas where the employee will need to walk, stand and bend. Exposure to both hot and cold environments and potential exposure to loud noises may occur.
Physical demands
The employee will regularly be required to speak and listen. The employee will frequently be required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel. There may be occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from the floor of supplies and materials weighing no more than 30 pounds. The work may involve bending, standing or walking, sometimes over rough terrain.

Up to 35% travel to and from job sites as needed.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering (preferably Civil or Environmental), or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university.
- Minimum of 3 years of environmental compliance experience with industrial, municipal, and/or federal clients.
- Proficiency in oral and written communication, with the ability to clearly articulate complex information.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze problems, collect and interpret data, and present findings effectively to project managers and/or team members.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects or tasks with competing deadlines.
- Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
- Effective time management skills to prioritize and execute tasks efficiently.
- Familiarity with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Basic understanding of regulatory programs such as the Clean Water Act (CWA), Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES).
- Experience in federal environmental consulting.
- Certification in OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER.
