A Sr. Environmental Specialist job is available with The City of Fort Worth (Water Department / Customer Care / Pretreatment Services). This position is responsible for monitoring, maintaining and enforcing the Pretreatment program for industries and wholesale customer cities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in biology, chemistry, environmental science, or a related field
- Three (3) years of responsible experience in state or federally regulated environmental programs.
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Be registered or complete registration with National Registry of Environmental Professionals (NREP) as a Registered Environmental Manager (REM) or higher level of competency with two (2) years from employment date.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to pretreatment regulations.
The Sr. Environmental Specialist job responsibilities include:
- Inspection and Investigation of industrial facilities
- Act as lead investigator for complaints and environmental investigations
- Wholesale Customer City and industrial contact
Working Conditions:
Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, unsanitary conditions, workspace restrictions, and the ability to maintain a professional demeanor even when dealing with upset customers/citizens.
Physical Demands:
Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects
