WORK HOURS: Mon-Fri 8am-5pm
TRAVEL REQUIREMENT: Local travel to facilities within DFW area.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
The EHS Regional Specialist will ensure regulatory compliance with all applicable environmental, health and safety regulations at a federal, state, and local level, injury prevention, injury reduction and provide support and resources to regional location. This role will require previous experience in developing and implementing a EHS Program.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Support Varsity Brands EHS Goals and Objectives
- Implementation of EHS programs, ensure regulatory compliance, support, and sustain EHS initiatives.
- Implement programs, policies, and procedures that will reduce exposures, specific to injury prevention and reduction.
- Conduct, coordinate, and track various EHS training to support organizations EHS programs.
- Conduct routine safety observations to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, company EHS policies, procedures, and practices.
- Maintain internal and regulatory reporting including data collection and reporting including but not limited to air, storm water and surface water discharge.
- Serve as secondary contact for all regulatory agencies for OSHA and EPA
- Maintain compliance with permits, government regulations and other industry practices.
- Stay informed of any safety and environmental law or regulation changes that impact the organization.
- Take necessary steps to enhance a safe and healthy work environment for all personnel.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with Plant Managers, Supervisors, and production personnel.
- Perform special projects as required.
- Conduct EHS training for onboarding of new hires to ensure regulatory compliance with Federal, State agencies, P&P’s specific to VB and BU’s
- Assist in conducting EHS audits, identifying violations and applying abatement periods.
- Train and educate production and management personnel specific to the regulatory requirements under OSHA and EPA, such as LO/TO, HazCom, Material Handling, Inspection, Incident Investigations etc. and VB corporate EHS P&P’s
- Train and educate Safety Teams following VB corporate directive.
- Communicate revisions to current regulatory standards.
- Participate in the investigation of incidents and ensure CAPA’s are completed to minimize future exposures and proper records/documents are maintained.
- Participate in meetings to discuss workplace safety and regulatory concerns and opportunities for improvements.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE
- A bachelor’s degree in occupational/industrial safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Environmental Science, or other EHS related fields preferred
- Continuous education specific to EHS considered in leu of degree.
- 3-5 years’ experience in manufacturing environment.
- Proficient PC skills including Microsoft Word, and Excel applications.
- Experience working with local regulatory agencies preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This job operates in a professional office environment. Largely a sedentary role with some filing requiring the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary. The ability to sit or stand for long periods through meetings and while operating office equipment, PC’s, laptop, telephone will be required.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; drive, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The ability to stand and walk for long periods of time (5 hours plus) is required. The ability to communicate with customers and colleagues using the following but not limited to radio, walkie talkie, text message and email is required. The ability to lift, bend, push, pull and manipulate equipment that is a minimum of 30 lbs. is required.
