The Warehouse Associate - New Steel Sales will play a dual role, combining sales activities with warehouse operations. This position is responsible for engaging with customers, driving sales for the New Steel division, and ensuring efficient warehouse operations, including inventory management, loading/unloading materials, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Representative Duties:
- Build and maintain relationships with new and existing customers to promote the New Steel division's products.
- Respond to customer inquiries in person, via phone, and email, providing product knowledge and recommendations tailored to their needs.
- Process sales orders, coordinate delivery or pickup schedules, and follow up to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Assist with pricing strategies, market research, and identifying growth opportunities.
- Achieve or exceed sales targets and objectives set by the management.
Warehouse Worker Duties:
- Receive, inspect, and store incoming materials accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare orders by picking, packing, and loading materials for customer deliveries or pickups.
- Operate heavy machinery such as forklifts and pallet jacks to move materials safely within the warehouse.
- Conduct routine inventory counts, report discrepancies, and assist in inventory control measures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment in compliance with safety standards.
Requirements
- Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in sales, customer service, or warehouse operations preferred.
- Experience in the steel, scrap, or construction materials industry is a plus.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic math and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory/sales software.
- Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with warehouse tools and equipment.
- Certifications (Preferred but not required):
- Forklift certification.
- OSHA safety training.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Comfortable standing, walking, bending, and operating machinery for extended periods.
- Willingness to work in varying weather conditions when necessary.
