We are currently seeking a full-time Forest Carbon Project Manager at our Tomahawk or Hayward office location. This is considered an established professional position, requiring previous inventory, analysis, and GIS experience, or applicable education.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
This position resides in our Analytics and Technology Solutions Department. The position would serve as a key member of the Steigerwaldt Analysis and Technology Solutions department, a team that provides a variety of real estate, natural resource, and forestry-related analysis, inventory, data management, and mapping and technical solutions services to internal and external clients.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Data analysis, inventory data processing, modeling, and research.
- Assisting the team in preparation and leadership of in and out of state data collection projects
- Data review and inventory field auditing
- Assists with project proposals, scheduling, organization, and budgeting
- Drafts report narrative documents
- Assists with training
- Assists with client communications
- Forest carbon project management, research, logistics, and client communications
- Other duties as assigned

PREFERRED SKILLS
- Desires to develop and excel in a career as a Carbon Project Manager in a fast-paced and diverse consulting business.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry or related Forest Sciences, with a graduate degree preferred.
- Minimum of five years’ practical forestry experience with a carbon focus
- Minimum of two years’ project management experience
- Experience with CARB enrollment protocols and reporting period requirements
- Knowledge of different carbon enrollment programs and processes
- The ability to advise on carbon project development
- Experience navigating both voluntary and compliance enrollments
- Background knowledge of carbon credit system
- Experience conducting and designing carbon inventories
- Inventory and project leadership experience involving managing logistics, production, and data quality.
- Experience with forest inventory, carbon, and GPS navigation software and hardware.
- Experience with ESRI ArcMap 10.x GIS, AGOL and ArcGIS Pro software, and other GIS platforms.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel and Access.
- Eastern hardwood forest management and silviculture experience.
- Experienced in SQL, Python, and R database management and development.
- Timberland asset modeling.
- Forest biometrics and timber inventory workup.
- Forest modeling, including USDA Forest Service Forest Vegetation Simulator (FVS).
- Querying and using Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) and Timber Products Output (TPO) data.
- Knowledgeable and skilled in functional/technical expertise areas of GIS project management, forest inventory processing, growth and yield, timber valuation, and assisting with timber resource analysis projects.
- Willingness to complete field work in all weather conditions and commit time to office work.
- Ability to travel and assist with out-of-state forest inventories in remote locations up to 30 percent of the time. Traveling has opened our team up to exciting locations and experiences.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in written form with management, support staff, and clients.
- Ability to maintain a high level of work and project organization.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
At Steigerwaldt, we offer a Remote-Friendly Hybrid Work Model for our staff. The Forest Carbon Project Manager position is considered a hybrid position.
COMPENSATION
Salary commensurate with experience.
POSTING DATE
