What is the opportunity?
RBC Capital Markets is the global investment banking arm of the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC). RBC Community Investments (www.rbccm.com/communityinvestments) is a leading national syndicator of tax credits, including State and Federal Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTCs), Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credits (HRTCs), New Market Tax Credits (NMTCs) and Renewable Energy Tax Credits (RETCs).
The Renewable Energy Syndications Analyst/Associate of Transaction Execution will have primary responsibility as support for execution with investors, new and existing. Role supports upper tier execution and internal legal review, ongoing investor marketing and post-closing support, assist with data collection and presentation for reporting, monitoring of performance of syndicated funds, may provide input on investment structuring and pricing, and manage KYC in furtherance of RBC’s investments in and syndication of renewable energy tax credit transactions. Renewable Energy Syndication Analyst/Associate will work closely with all levels of personnel assigned to the group, as well internal RBC partners.
Title of Analyst or Associate will be assigned based on the selected candidate’s experience.
What will you do?
Transaction Execution and Investor Management
- With the leadership of the Director of Transaction Execution, support drafting and negotiation of upper tier documents with investors in cooperation with outside counsel.
- Assist with formation and management of upper tier entities.
- Manage investor closing process, which includes, but is not limited to: maintaining closing checklists, managing datarooms and diligence trackers, drafting meeting agendas, and coordinating calls.
- Prepare presentation materials for marketing investment opportunities to new and existing Investors to secure commitments.
- Collect and organize data for external and internal reporting requirements and compliance and collaborate with internal RBC partners to present such information.
- Support due diligence of investment opportunities under the guidance of senior RETC personnel, including but not limited to KYC procedures, reviewing tax equity documents, attending site visits (as assigned), and analyzing the detailed third party reports typically associated with investments of this type (insurance reports, independent engineering studies, appraisals.
- Support management of transactions from the Closing Date through final-true up / stabilization on behalf of investors. Serve as a resource and primary or secondary point of contact, as assigned, with investors in each transaction until disposition.
- Assist with financial modeling and analysis throughout the life cycle of RETC transactions – lower tier and upper tier.
- Assist with production of portfolio management reports for Investors, as needed.
- Proactively identify and escalate operational risk loss events / control deficiencies and risks to line manager and the relevant risk and control functions on a timely basis.
- Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities.
What do you need to succeed?
- Basic Qualifications Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree.
- Candidates with paralegal experience, or legal document management and negotiations experience is required. Experience in the renewable energy project finance industry is a plus.
- Inidividual must be a self-starter with high work ethic and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS-Office applications is required.
