JOB SUMMARY: The Facility Operations Specialist is responsible for providing facility management for a Park Unit with widely diversified infrastructure and operational complexity characterized by multiple developed areas within a park unit. This position is located in Dinosaur National Monument, in the Maintenance Division. MAJOR DUTIES: The Supervisory Facility Operations Specialist at Dinosaur National Monument manages the facilities and facility operations of the park through supervision of the Facilities Program. Park facilities include two classic Mission 66 historic districts comprised of visitor centers, employee housing areas, maintenance structures and yards, visitor campgrounds, substantial road networks with both paved and gravel roads, and infrastructure systems that provide essential services. Facilities also include dozens of wilderness camps located along the Green and Yampa rivers as well as constructed river put-ins and take-outs used by hundreds of recreational rafting groups that float the park's 110 river miles annually. Duty areas of the position are varied and include the following: Participation on the Leadership Team, which entails weekly meeting attendance and collaboration with the superintendent and the other program leaders in order to provide direction and oversight for all aspects of park management. Planning and accounting for the care of park assets, including the park fleet, in such manner that park operations are carried out efficiently and continuously. Project planning and management of moderate- to large-scale facility projects. Primary risk management and safety expertise and oversight for the Facilities Program, and assistance in these capacities for the entire Dinosaur National Monument operation and workforce. Management of the budget for the Facilities Program, which includes Base, FLREA, Housing and a variety of annual and biennial project funds, and collaboration with the Leadership Team on overall park budget management. Collaboration with Resources and Planning staffs to ensure completion of all aspects of environmental compliance (for example, National Environmental Policy Act, National Historic Preservation Act, etc.) for the substantial facility work carried out by the Facilities Program. Oversight of all aspects of personnel management in the Facilities Program, and direct supervision of several employees in the Program. The park headquarters is located 2 miles from Dinosaur, Colorado. The communities of Rangely, CO and Vernal, UT offer all amenities (hospital, schools, grocery, etc.) and are within commuting distance of headquarters located near Dinosaur, CO and the Quarry Visitor Center located near Jensen, UT.
