JOB SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to provide informational, interpretive, and general services to park visitors. Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work approximately 10.5 months in pay status, and you will be in a non-pay status for 1.5 months (between January and late February) depending on weather. The major duties of the Park Guide GS-0090-06 position include, but are not limited to, the following: Research, outline, and present a variety of formal thematic interpretive programs and experiences based on sound National Park Service (NPS) interpretation competencies and philosophy. Serve as a front-line representative of the NPS providing high quality customer service and accurate information. Oversee the park social media accounts and updates park website. Provide on the job training to new employees and volunteers, including mentoring them with development of thematic programs and outlines and research. AREA/HOUSING INFORMATION Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site is located ¼ mile north of Deer Lodge, Montana. Complete services are available in Deer Lodge, including schools, grades K-12; dental and medical facilities; and a hospital. Colleges are located in Butte (37 miles), Helena (57 miles), and Missoula (82 miles). The climate is very dry with moderate summers (rarely exceeding 90 degrees) and cold winters. Government housing is not available; however, rentals and property for sale is available in Deer Lodge and surrounding communities.
