JOB SUMMARY: The primary purpose of the position is to perform moderately heavy physical labor requiring the use of common hand tools and power equipment MAJOR DUTIES: MAJOR DUTIES: The primary duties of this position are to perform laborer duties on buildings, structures, grounds, boundary fence, roads and trails while utilizing required personal safety equipment (eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, safety vests, etc.). Incumbent frequently lifts, carries and moves materials and supplies for long distances weighing 60 pounds and sometimes up to 100 pounds with assistance. Works on park fences digging post holes, carrying woven wire, steel posts, fencing material and tools. Loads, unloads fence supplies, heavy boxes, bulky supplies, trash, furniture and construction materials from trucks. Pulls weeds, trims shrubs, mows, waters and rakes lawns. Scrubs, strips, waxes, dusts, mops and scour lavatories, stools, urinals. Vacuums and shampoos carpets, changes building and trail lights, picks up litter, empties waste baskets, recycle bins, trash containers, sweeps and cleans steps, walkways and trails. Duties are sometimes performed while working from ladders or scaffolding. Work is performed both inside and outside during extreme weather conditions often dealing with the visiting public in highly congested areas. Selectee may work with higher graded employees on building maintenance and road repair projects when the need arises. This is an open continuous vacancy announcement.
