JOB SUMMARY: This position located in Everglades National Park, in the Division of Visitor and Resource Protection. Occupancy of government quarters is required. MAJOR DUTIES: The incumbent performs emergency and non-emergency dispatch and call taking services for public safety incidents and operations in an emergency communication center serving a large National Park. Follow organizational practices, techniques, laws, regulations, policies, standards, and procedures applicable to the dispatching of Law Enforcement, Fire, Medical, and emergency resources. Operates a multi-frequency radio console and prioritizes radio traffic and related communications. Conducts phone interviews of 911 callers in difficult circumstances to obtain critical incident information. Monitors and tracks equipment and personnel such as law enforcement, structural fire, wildland fire, aviation, vessels, and search and rescue using a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) program. Dispatches personnel and equipment to emergency incidents. Utilizes NCIC and other law enforcement databases and records management systems. Other duties include: records management, general public assistance, assistance to other park offices and partners, and projects as assigned in support of the Visitor and Resource Protection Division.
