JOB SUMMARY: The primary purpose of work is custodial, janitorial, and outdoor landscape work with a preventative maintenance emphasis such as small plumbing and electrical repairs, grass cutting, line trimming, sweeping, washing windows from ladders or manlifts and walls, dusting and polishing museum artifacts, interpretive panels, and providing maintenance and cleaning to trash receptacles. Incumbent must on a regular basis operate light duty motor vehicles weighing up to 10,000 pounds. MAJOR DUTIES: This position is located at Mount Rushmore National Memorial in Keystone, South Dakota. The primary purpose of the work is custodial, janitorial, and outdoor landscape work with a preventative maintenance emphasis such as small plumbing and electrical repairs, grass cutting, line trimming, sweeping, washing windows and walls from ladders or manlifts, dusting and polishing museum artifacts, interpretative panels, and providing maintenance, cleaning, and trash removal from multiple receptacles. Work is done by hand or with ride on or walk behind power equipment. In order to accomplish the custodial/janitorial assignments the incumbent must on a regular and recurring basis operate light duty motor vehicles weighing up to 10,000 pounds (such as pick-up trucks, panel trucks, flatbed trucks, or utility vehicles) to transport personnel, material, or equipment to work sites located at or near Mount Rushmore. This position is not a Testing Designated Position. An appointment to this position is restricted by law (5 U.S.C. 3310) to Veterans who are preference eligible if such applicants are available. All Custodial certificates must list the preference eligible first, then a certificate of non-preference eligible may be issued. This is an open continuous vacancy announcement.
