Job purpose
We are looking for an ESG lead based either in Portugal, Spain or Dublin to implement, manage and further develop Purever's Sustainability Programme and ESG initiatives, and deliver on our commitment to ethically and responsibly manage our business. The person in this key strategic role will liaise with the Commercial, Design, HR, Finance, Procurement, Construction and SHEQ Department teams to ensure the effective implementation of all Purever's ESG and Sustainability initiatives.
Duties and responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Implementation
- Set and monitor measurable ESG & sustainability goals.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental regulations and standards.
- Liaise with the Senior Management Group
- Complete regular benchmarking exercises to assess Purever's ESG performance relative to our industry peers.
- To further develop the Sky Blue Programme which serves as Purever's comprehensive sustainability strategy
- Draw and implement any missing policies necessary to ensure the appropriate governance at Purever group
Project Management and Execution
- Manage the integration of sustainable practices across the company.
Stakeholder Engagement, Education & Communication
- Engage stakeholders in initial materiality assessment.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to promote sustainability.
- Liaise with the Technical Training Officer to develop and conduct training and educational programs for employees on ESG & sustainability practices.
- Work with the Marketing department, to communicate ESG & sustainability achievements and goals to internal and external stakeholders.
- Represent Purever at relevant conferences and as a member of relevant professional bodies.
- Liaise with counterparts in other companies within the sector to understand industry best practices and to benchmark Purever's performance against our peers.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
- Track and report on ESG and sustainability metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Oversee collection and analysis of all scope 1,2, & 3 GHG emissions data, and co-ordinate compilation of annual GHG Emissions Carbon Reports.
- Manage the company ISO 50001 Energy Management System and act as point of contact with the certifying body during surveillance and certification audits.
- Prepare regular ESG & sustainability reports for management, and clients.
- Lead the annual assessment of Purever's Sustainability performance ratings on the EcoVadis and CDP platforms.
- Work with the CFO on the compilation and publication of annual CSRD Reports.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
- Stay informed about the latest trends and advancements in sustainable construction and manufacturing.
- Provide updates and guidance on regulations and legislative changes which may impact on the Purever business.
- Work with the design and procurement departments, promote research and development of new sustainable methods and materials
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement in sustainability across the organization.
- Evaluate and recommend eco-friendly materials and technologies.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field.
- Professional certifications in sustainability (e.g., LEED AP, BREEAM, ISO 14001, ESG, CSRD) are desirable.
Ability and Knowledge Of:
- Sound knowledge of sustainability regulations and standards.
- Knowledge of energy efficiency, including renewable energy.
- Knowledge and experience in resource efficiency: waste, water etc.
- Knowledge and experience in carbon emissions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Knowledge and experience in ESG and ratings agencies, e.g. EcoVadis
- Comprehensive understanding of CSRD requirements and Reporting Frameworks, e.g. CDP.
- Experience and willingness to work with other departments.
- Familiarity in Corporate Governance.
