The Environmental Civil Project Engineer will perform engineering and project management tasks of varying difficulty and complexity, working independently on most projects. The engineer mentors our less experienced staff. The engineer performs QA/QC functions to ensure the accuracy and adequacy of work products. The engineer supports marketing efforts and the development of proposals. The engineer supports the Project Manager as a billing manager by managing assigned internal project tasks.

Office Schedule based on candidate location:
Butte or Bozeman, MT: In office minimum 3 days per week.
Great Falls, MT: In office 3 to 4 days per week, travel to Butte, MT, twice a month
All other Montana locations more than one hour from an office will need to travel to Butte, MT, twice a month.
What You Will Be Doing at Woodard & Curran:
- Provide expert technical advice on engineering tasks as well as representation of the Company industry-wide.
- Performs construction oversight
- Recognized as a subject matter expert in one or more areas.
- Support marketing and business development.
- Foster and maintain relationships with key clients.
- Apply sound and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
- Perform QA/QC functions as delegated by the discipline manager.
- Mentor junior-level staff.
- Under direct supervision of a Project Manager, act as the billing manager for small projects or phases/tasks of larger projects.
- Prepare documents and presentations with a moderate amount of guidance, review, and oversight, but work under the direct supervision of a Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer.
- Seek opportunities to prepare technical papers to be published or presented.
- The list of duties is intended to be optional, and other duties may be assigned as needed.
What You Will Need To Succeed:
- BS or MS degree in engineering required.
- Minimum of 4 years of work experience at a professional level in an engineering position or industry.
- Demonstrated skills and abilities required of a Senior-Level Engineer.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical, and strong organizational skills.
- Motivated to excel in the area of expertise.
- Ability to work completely autonomously, and utilize junior staff to complete assignments.
Decision Making
- Controls budget, scope and schedule on assigned projects. Under direct supervision of Project Manager, may serve as billing manager for smaller size multi-discipline projects.
Supervision Exercised
- Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of more junior engineer staff, estimates staffing needs, schedules and assigns work to meet completion date.
- As individual researchers or staff specialists may be assisted on projects by other technical staff.
$70,000 - $105,000 a year
This role has the option for remote work, and the anticipated pay range is flexible, depending on factors such as the employee's primary work location, skills, experience, and education. The following examples illustrate how the pay range for the same role can vary based on different locations.
Butte, MT: $70,000 - 80,000
Milton, NH: $80,000 - 90,000
San Francisco, CA: $90,000 - 105,000
This position’s anticipated pay range is provided above; the final exempt salary or non-exempt hourly pay will depend on experience level, and a percentage-based geographic differential will be considered based on where the final candidate will be working. Geographic differentials recognize and reflect the cost of labor differences between geographic markets.
