Job Title: Employee, Health, Safety & Security (EHSS) Coordinator – Painesville, OH
Styropek is the North American leader in the EPS (Expandable Polystyrene) industry and the largest EPS producer on the American Continent. We have 7 manufacturing plants and 15 sites in 7 countries and belong to the Alfa-Alpek family. Alfa manages a diversified portfolio of subsidiaries including Alpek, which is one of the world’s leading producers of polyester & fibers, and a leader in the polypropylene and expandable polystyrene (EPS) market. The other subsidiaries within Alfa’s portfolio are food products, such as Yoplait®, IT and telecom services such as Axtel.
We are currently seeking an EHSS Coordinator for our facility in Painesville, OH.
Styropek’s Painesville plant is located about 30 miles northeast of Cleveland, OH. The site manufactures Expandable Polystyrene products used in the construction and packaging industries.

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role aims to minimize accidents, health issues, and environmental impacts while promoting a culture of safety and sustainability within the organization.
Responsibilities:
•Program Development: Lead and implement EHSS programs, policies, and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and promote a safe working environment.
•Risk Assessment: Manage and conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
•Training and Education: Manage and deliver training programs to educate employees on EHS standards, practices, and emergency procedures.
•Incident Investigation: Lead and manage investigations of accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures.
•Regulatory Compliance: Manage and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations by maintaining accurate records and submitting required reports.
•Sustainability Initiatives: Lead, promote, and manage sustainability initiatives to reduce the organization’s environmental footprint.
•Emergency Response: Develop and maintain emergency response plans and conduct regular drills to ensure preparedness.
•Continuous Improvement: Monitor EHSS performance metrics and implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance safety and environmental performance.
Additional Job Details:
Thorough understanding of regulatory requirements (OSHA, USEPA, OEPA,). Specific and direct experience with OSHA 1910 PSM.
Program Manager for the site Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures (SPCC), Hazardous Waste, Air, Waste Water, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and Emergency Response Program (ERP) programs.
Develop and deliver site EHSS training, both classroom and CBT modules. Coordinate vendor provided training.
Responsible for all internal and external regulatory reporting
Develop and manage EHSS budget
EHSS Program delivery for site – develops, delivers and maintains all EHSS training and drills
Continuous improvement leader for EHSS – actively seeks opportunities to improve site sustainability
Site lead with respect to all EHSS audits both internal and external
Community Outreach - Maintain good working relationships with community emergency services, and regulatory officials.
Manage Site’s hazardous waste, universal waste and recycling programs to maintain compliance and site sustainability.
Lead the ISO/RC 14001 Management System including the Internal Audit and Management Review processes.
Qualifications:
•Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
•Required Years Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in EHSS roles, with a proven track record of managing EHSS programs.
•Necessary Professional Certification(s): Preferred Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Safety & Health Manager (CSHM), Certified Environmental Specialist (CES), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)
•Strong knowledge of EHSS regulations, excellent communication and training skills, ability to conduct thorough investigations, and proficiency in EHS management software.
