EnSafe is accepting applications for an entry-level Environmental Scientist/Aquatic Resources Specialist based out of EnSafe’s Memphis, TN office.

What You Will Be Doing:
- Conduct surveys and assessments of aquatic resources, including wetlands and streams, and prepare reports in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Develop and implement mitigation and restoration plans for impacted aquatic resources
- Prepare and submit permits, including Section 404 permits under the Clean Water Act
- Conduct Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and prepare reports in accordance with ASTM E2247-16, ASTM E1527-13, and ASTM E1527-21 standards
- Initial coordination, special studies, draft and final NEPA documents
- Manage the public review process and drafting project closure documentation (FONSI/FONPA)
- Threatened and Endangered Species Coordination: Assist in surveys and assessments of threatened and endangered species
- Regulatory Coordination: Support coordination efforts with federal and state agencies, including U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and state wildlife agencies, for project compliance
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, or a related field
- 1-3 years of experience in aquatic resource surveys and assessments, preferably within a consulting environment
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to aquatic resources
- Experience with GIS mapping and analysis
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to travel as needed to complete fieldwork and attend meetings with clients
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the Environmental Scientist/Aquatic Resources Specialist job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to traverse difficult terrain, including walking long distances over uneven ground, steep slopes, and through dense vegetation. The position requires the ability to carry field equipment and tools weighing up to 50 lbs. over long distances. Additionally, the employee may be required to work in adverse weather conditions such as extreme heat, cold, or precipitation.
