As a Sustainability Program Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing sustainability programs within the organization. Working closely with the sustainability and technical services teams, you will develop and execute programs of construction projects that align with the company's sustainability goals and drive positive environmental and social impact. Your role will involve overseeing multiple projects, coordinating stakeholders, and ensuring successful program delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the sustainability team to implement the company’s comprehensive Local Law 97 plan in New York City.
- Lead program planning, including goal setting, target identification, and timeline development.
- Coordinate and manage cross-functional project teams across multiple work-streams, ensuring effective communication, integration, visibility, transparency and collaboration to meet program objectives.
- Develop and monitor program budgets, tracking expenses and ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Manage program schedule tracking, deliverable completion and risk management.
- Monitor industry trends, best practices, and emerging sustainability standards, integrating them into program design and implementation.
- Conduct regular assessments to measure the impact and effectiveness of sustainability programs, identifying areas for improvement and proposing appropriate adjustments.
- Manage program reporting and communication, providing regular updates to internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify and engage with external partners, including vendors, community organizations, and industry associations, to support program implementation.
- Stay informed about environmental regulations, certifications, and compliance standards to ensure program adherence.
- Partner with internal sustainability, property management and project management teams to effectively support program implementation and achievement of key objectives.
- Foster internal engagement, promoting sustainability awareness and understanding across the organization through training, workshops, and communication channels.
- Partner with the sustainability team to develop and implement comprehensive sustainability programs aligned with the company's sustainability strategy and objectives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in sustainability, environmental science, business, or a project management related field. A master's degree is preferred.
- Proven experience (7 years) in leading and managing construction programs or projects. Demonstrated experience with renewable energy, energy efficiency, EV charging, or similar project types is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of sustainability principles, emerging regulatory and market factors that impact sustainability investments, and incentive programs in the NYC and greater US market.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple projects and deliver high-quality results on time and within budget.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to collect and interpret data to drive program improvements.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, both internal and external.
- Proficiency in program management tools and software.
- Sustainability certifications (e.g., LEED GA, Green Project Manager) are highly desirable.
- Passion for sustainability and a commitment to driving positive change.
- Ability to work on site at the company’s office in New York City at least three days a week (hybrid).
Estimated total compensation for this position:
120,000.00 – 170,500.00 USD per year
The total compensation range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on an applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data .
