WSP is growing and we have an exciting opportunity for a Mid-Level Environmental Scientist in our Earth & Environment Team to work with our environmental group in the Marlton, New Jersey office. We offer a good mix of office and field work, a variety of interesting projects and the opportunity to learn and grow.
WSP’s Marlton office provides a broad range of services in engineering and environmental sciences including environmental assessment, investigations and remediation, remedial design and permitting. Our ideal candidate will be excited about the opportunity to support our environmental consulting business and possess knowledge and technical skills in environmental investigation, remediation technologies, permit preparation, remedial solution implementation and compliance monitoring under state and federal programs including CERCLA, RCRA, NJDEP Site Remediation Program, and Pennsylvania Act 2.

Your Impact
- Will work under the supervision and mentorship of a Senior Environmental Scientist
- Support state, federal, commercial, and industrial environmental investigations, remediation, decommissioning and redevelopment projects
- Will provide oversight of subcontractors and the management of investigation derived waste
- Lead tasks for technical assignments on projects and provide task management (with experience) including scheduling, staffing and training others for field assignments, such as the collection of soil, soil vapor, sediment, surface water and groundwater samples in accordance with state and federal regulations and standard operating procedures
- Will travel to project sites primarily in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. Approximately 50% travel.
- Assist with the preparation of environmental monitoring and technical reports, including compiling, interpreting and presenting field and analytical data
Who You Are
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 - 5 years + of environmental experience with increasing responsibility
- B.S. degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology or other related fields
- Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organizational skills
- Experience with project reporting, including compilation of field and analytical data and synthesizing field notes for technical report narratives
- Must be a self-starter, team oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with the use of standard software packages including MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability and willingness to travel to project sites primarily in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware.
- Must pass physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
- Must have the ability to work in the United States immediately
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology or other related fields
- Knowledge of New Jersey and/or Pennsylvania state and federal regulations
- Familiarity with GIS data presentation
- Experience with the management, visualization, and statistical analysis of quantitative data
- OHSA HAZWOPER 40-hour certification

- Must be able to pass a HAZWOPER physical and be medically able to wear a respirator
- This role will be approximately 50% field work on remediation sites and 50% in the office
- Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening
- This role may be subject to a client-mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of this policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.
